VIP Launch Party at Social House 7
There’s more to fashion than just the designer clothes and the famous models who show them off to the masses on the runway, there are the minds behind their creation. These minds, with their creative drive, put their first draft on the drawing board and further improve their designs until they are ready to hit the runway.
And that’s why those responsible for bringing these eye-dazzling pieces to the spotlight and the models that further add on to the wonder of fashion will be attending the VIP party to commemorate the launch of Settlement Engine’s Fashion Week Downtown and give everyone a sneak peek on the process that went into creating the designs that will be presented throughout the week.
With acclaimed attendees such as Brian Thompson, Tyler Kirkland, and James Houk, just to name a few, it will be a perfect occasion to see such inspiring characters bring their ideas, concepts, and inspirations to the table for discussion.
Starting at 6:00 p.m. on September 18 at Social House 7, the launch party will offer complimentary appetizers and drinks for purchase to pair with the experience of meeting with the minds behind this week’s events and those who will keep it going and inspire those who come to see them in the coming days.

The Runway: Settlement Engine’s Fashion Week Downtown Hits the Catwalk
6c7691d7 f20e 4d8b b744 a5d28a741633 - Settlement Engine's Fashion Week Downtown Special Edition
Settlement Engine’s Fashion Week Downtown is preparing for their second annual fashion show, The Runway, on Tuesday, September 19 at 8 pm. The show, located in Market Square, will serve as an opportunity for 15 local designers to display their work to the Pittsburgh fashion community and beyond.
Settlement Engine’s Fashion Week Downtown is organized by the Pittsburgh Downtown Community Development Corporation, which seeks to promote the well-being of downtown Pittsburgh and the development of a tight-knit community by assisting small businesses and supporting the arts and entertainment. Pittsburgh has a thriving fashion community, but it often remains under the radar, as opposed to design communities in other major cities. The Runway aims to promote designers that would not otherwise have the opportunity to display their apparel in runway shows.
“We believe that like in other cities, the hub of fashion week should be downtown,” said John Valentine, executive director of PDCDC. “When we took over Fashion Week, we relaunched it as Settlement Engine’s Fashion Week Downtown in order to centralize the retail district. We believe that moving downtown is the right direction.”
The Runway will be a major step forward in promoting a thriving retail district in Pittsburgh and further centralizing that district in the downtown area.
There will be a cocktail hour beforehand beginning at 7 pm, with hors d’oeuvres prepared by Market Street Grocery, a cash wine bar supplied by Market Street Grocery and a cash wine bar supplied by Wigle Whiskey. Be sure to stop by our tent in Market Square on Tuesday at 8 pm for this much-anticipated event. Don’t forget to get your tickets here.

Design Fest Pop-Up Market at the Wintergarden

Settlement Engine’s Fashion Week Downtown is about more than just seeing what’s the latest in fashion on the runway. With the Design Fest pop-up market, people can buy what they see, so obtaining that alluring style that catches one’s eye can become their realistic style instead of just a dream. And with 32 vendors selling unique wares that one can’t find elsewhere, what normally would be pipe dreams can become reality.

Clothes alone can only go so far in creating that unique image one might crave in order to stand out in the crowd, so there is plenty of incentive to look for more than one inspiring piece to add to one’s collection.
A cash bar will also be available at the Market to take a moment to view what’s being offered from afar and relax for a moment from the hustle and bustle of picking and choosing what will be the perfect combination.
