Downtown business recruitment and retention is crucial to long-term, sustainable economic growth. Within our Business Recruitment & Retention program, the PDCDC works closely with local retailers, entrepreneurs and developers to solidify Downtown’s retail offerings. The PDCDC’s efforts are twofold: we actively recruit new and innovative businesses, and we facilitate negotiations between businesses, developers and building owners.

The PDCDC focuses on recruiting independent businesses that add local character to “our region’s living room.” For now, our recruitment efforts focus on individual retail corridors. We eventually hope to fill every Downtown storefront. Our ultimate goal is for Downtown to become a major, yet unique shopping destination for both tourists and residents.

The Mayor’s Retail Committee gave the PDCDC the lead to recruit boutiques and small businesses to downtown Pittsburgh.  Since then, the PDCDC has successfully assisted the owners of Nicky’s Thai, Sal’s Deli and Sinful Sweets to name a few in coming Downtown. We are currently in negotiations with new and existing businesses to locate in various downtown locations.

New development is important to Downtown’s growth, but it would be impossible without the preexisting downtown small business community. The Golden Triangle’s revitalization and economic growth would not be possible without their years of hard work and dedication. The PDCDC works closely with Downtown’s retailers, restaurants and small businesses to ensure their ongoing success.

If you currently own a business in downtown Pittsburgh or would like to start one, you can call 412-235-7263 or email info@pdcdc.org to learn more about our services.
