On November 23 at 6pm, the 4th Annual Trib Total Media Candlelight Horse-Drawn Carriage Parade will kick-off Downtown Pittsburgh’s holiday season. This unique event, that draws over 200,000 people annually, is part of Trib Total Media’s ongoing commitment to the community and to raise awareness for Operation Santa Claus. Since 1984, their cooperative effort with Shop N Save and the Salvation Army has raised millions of dollars for the campaign, providing thousands of needy families with holiday meals across Southwestern Pennsylvania.
Starting at Liberty Avenue, more than 100 horses will pull 30 carriages as area marching bands play the sounds of the season. Some special carriages to mention include Cinderella’s Pumpkin, covered wagons, an antique horse-drawn bus and of course Santa Claus in his shiny red sleigh!
In a tribute to the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire, the Parade will feature the Honor Guard, Pipe Band and antique horse-drawn fire units from the Tournament of Roses Parade.
The lineup includes majestic Clydesdales, adorable miniatures, sports celebrities, the Pirate Parrot, Iceburgh, Mr. McFeely, Pierogies and more.
